Problem

Forge shows image markup instead of the rendered picture.

Solution

Wait for neovim/neovim#39496. Once it lands, forge draws an image with vim.ui.img.set(bytes, { relative = 'buffer', buf = buf, row = row }) and writes none of the hard parts.

Alternatives considered

  • Do nothing.
  • A preview split.
  • Inline with absolute positioning and hand-rolled scroll tracking.
  • Vendoring neovim/neovim#39496 temporariuly.
  • Delegating to snacks.imag/image.nvim.
