Scope

:Greview ++layout=split and related paired split behavior are functional, but need a real manual pass before the release line is finalized.

Review:

visual balance of old/new windows
gutter, signcolumn, change-bar, and number behavior
cursor/follow behavior between review buffer and split pair
close/reopen lifecycle
docs wording for what split mode is and is not

Done

split mode feels predictable in normal manual use
any remaining polish is tracked separately
results are reflected in #319/#292 as needed
